Mmmmm... Honey Bourbon Steak Tips. These savory bites of joy don't really need much more of an introduction. A sweet, smoky, umami marinade coats every last bite of these beefy tips, making them irresistible. Hearty mushrooms only add to the satisfaction and the beef flavors, as does the creamy butter used for the pan-searing. Ingredients
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 pounds steak, rib-eye, sirloin, or filet, cut into chunks
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons butter, divided
- 6 ounces mushrooms, cut into quarters
Directions
Step 1 -In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, the brown sugar, the bourbon, the soy sauce, the Worcestershire sauce, the red pepper flakes, and the garlic.
Step 2 -Pour the mixture into a large resealable plastic bag.
Step 3 -Add the steak cubes to the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 4 hours.
Step 4 -Heat the vegetable oil and 2 tablespoons of the butter in a cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
Step 5 -Drain the marinade and pat the steak tips dry.
Step 6 -Add the marinated steak to the skillet, cooking it in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Step 7 -Cook the steak until seared on all sides and with an internal temperature of at least 135 degrees F internally for medium rare, about 3-4 minutes.
Step 8 -Transfer the cooked steak to a plate.
Step 9 -Add the remaining butter and the mushrooms to the skillet and cook until the mushrooms are browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 10 -Serve the steak with the mushrooms.
