About
It's time to change up the cookout chicken game with a new twist on an Italian comfort classic! Chicken Parmesan Burgers have the crunchy, cheesy, savory flavor of chicken parmesan, saturated in a bright and mellow tomato sauce, on a toasted hamburger bun. The parmesan is mixed right into the meat, so you'll never be without that sharp, nutty flavor. Chicken Parmesan Burgers only take 35 minutes to make, so you can easily cook them alongside ribs! They'll become a barbecue staple before you know it!

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
- 2 cups marinara sauce, divided
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive or avocado oil
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
- 4 hamburger buns, buttered
- basil, optional, to taste, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, the parmesan cheese, the breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup of the marinara sauce, the onion, the garlic, and the parsley together.
Step 3 -Season with the salt and the pepper and stir until it is evenly mixed.
Step 4 -Form the meat mixture into 4 patties.
Step 5 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the oil.
Step 6 -Place the patties in the skillet until golden-brown on one side, about 4-5 minutes.
Step 7 -Flip the patties and immediately pour the remaining marinara sauce around the patties in the pan.
Step 8 -Bring the marinara to a simmer, reducing the heat as needed to prevent the sauce from bubbling too quickly.
Step 9 -Top each patty with 1 slice of the mozzarella cheese.
Step 10 -Cover the pan and cook until the cheese melts and the patties are cooked through at 165 degrees F, about 8-10 minutes.
Step 11 -Place the hamburger buns in the oven and toast until lightly crispy and warmed, about 5 minutes.
Step 12 -Place some of the extra sauce on the toasted buns, then add 1 of the chicken patties to each.
Step 13 -Garnish with the basil and serve!
