Ingredients
- For the cookies:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 16 ounces confectioners' sugar
Directions
Step 1 -In a medium bowl, add the butter and the white sugar and mix with an electric hand mixer until they are well-blended.
Step 2 -Stir the eggs and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla extract into the butter mixture.
Step 3 -Stir in the sour cream.
Step 4 -Sift 2 3/4 cups of the flour, the baking powder, the salt, and the baking soda together, then stir it into the cookie dough.
Step 5 -Cover the cookie dough and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour and up to overnight.
Step 6 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 7 -Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 8 -Drop the cookie dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets and bake until they are golden, about 10-12 minutes.
Step 9 -Place the cookies on wire racks to cool.
Step 10 -In a medium bowl, add the shortening, the milk, the egg whites, the remaining flour, the remaining vanilla extract, and the confectioners' sugar and mix with an electric hand mixer on high speed until a glaze forms.
Step 11 -Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies.
Step 12 -Serve.
