Our grandma has this funny sign in her kitchen that says, "Grandma's Kitchen: Open 24/7." It always gives us a good laugh and we joke about how it is more so for grandpa than for all the grandchildren... since he's there more frequently than we are. Sure, we tease him, but really, we can't blame him. We love how she'll endlessly whip up our favorite bites when we visit. And when it comes to dinnertime, she always makes us her Grandma's Cubed Steak & Gravy dish that just makes our tastebuds go wild. We'll load our plates up with creamy mashed potatoes topped with the most tender steak and the tastiest gravy as we talk about our most cherished memories together... most of which are surrounding a table eating this dish. We love that her kitchen has brought us such precious moments and we hope that Grandma's Cubed Steak & Gravy will do the same for you!

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 (4-ounce) beef cube steaks
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 large onion, sliced and separated into rings
- 3 cups water, divided
- 1 envelope brown gravy mix
- 1 envelope mushroom gravy mix
- 1 envelope onion gravy mix
- mashed potatoes, cooked and warm, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -Place the flour in a shallow dish.
Step 2 -Add the steaks to the flour, one at a time, and turn to coat completely.
Step 3 -In a skillet over medium heat, cook the steaks in the oil until they are lightly browned on each side.
Step 4 -Transfer the steaks to a 3-quart slow cooker.
Step 5 -Add the onions and 2 cups of the water to the steaks.
Step 6 -Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat until the steaks are tender, about 8 hours.
Step 7 -In a bowl, whisk the brown gravy mix, the mushroom gravy mix, the onion gravy mix, and the remaining water together.
Step 8 -Add the gravy mixture to the steak mixture and cook until it thickens and heats through, about 30 minutes.
Step 9 -Serve the steak and the gravy over the mashed potatoes.
