Ingredients
- water, to taste
- 6 large eggs
- ice, to taste
- 1/4 cup bacon, chopped into 1/4-inch-wide pieces
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 cup potato chips, lightly crushed
- 2 tablespoons sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
Directions
Step 1 -Place a steamer basket over a medium saucepan.
Step 2 -In the prepared saucepan over medium-high heat, add enough of the water so that it rises up to 1 inch, then bring it to a boil.
Step 3 -Add the eggs to the basket and cover the saucepan. Steam, about 13-14 minutes. Discard the boiling water.
Step 4 -In a large bowl, add enough of the ice and the water to completely cover the eggs. Then, add the steamed eggs and let them rest until they are cool enough to handle.
Step 5 -Peel and discard the eggshells from the eggs.
Step 6 -In a medium skillet over medium heat, add the bacon pieces and cook, stirring frequently, until they are crisp, about 5 minutes.
Step 7 -Place the cooked bacon pieces on a paper-towel-lined plate and let them drain.
Step 8 -Cut the eggs in half lengthwise.
Step 9 -Scoop out the egg yolks and place them in a medium bowl.
Step 10 -Add the sour cream, the salt, the black pepper, the garlic powder, and the onion powder to the egg yolks and stir until they are fully combined and smooth.
Step 11 -Add the egg yolk mixture to a resealable plastic bag and carefully cut off 1/2 inch from one of the corners.
Step 12 -Pipe the yolk mixture into the cavities of each of the egg white halves.
Step 13 -Sprinkle the deviled eggs with the cooked bacon pieces, the crushed potato chips, the sharp cheddar cheese, and the chives.
Step 14 -Serve chilled or at room temperature.
