What is a Chocolate Pecan Casserole, you might be wondering? Dessert casseroles aren't quite as common as the savory ones, we know. Well, first thing's first, it's delicious. Okay, okay, we bet you need to know more than that. Well, think of it like this... it's a large baking dish lined with a crunchy pecan-filled crust that's holding a creamy, chocolate filling and topped with rich whipped cream and even more pecans! Um, yum! Sounds like quite the treat, right? Perfect for all your gatherings, from birthdays to holidays, Chocolate Pecan Casserole is just the best dessert to ever be!

Ingredients
- For the crust:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup pecans, finely chopped
- For the filling:
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 3 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
- 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons pecans, chopped, for topping
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 3 -In a medium bowl, add the butter and the flour and use a pastry blender or two knives to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
Step 4 -Stir 1 cup of the pecans into the butter-flour mixture.
Step 5 -Press the crust mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Step 6 -Bake the crust until it is golden, about 15 minutes.
Step 7 -Let the crust cool completely.
Step 8 -While the crust is cooling, in a medium bowl, add the cream cheese, the confectioners' sugar, and 1 cup of the whipped topping and beat with an electric hand mixer until it is smooth.
Step 9 -In a large bowl, whisk the chocolate pudding mix, the vanilla pudding mix, and the milk together until there are no lumps.
Step 10 -Add the cream cheese mixture and to the pudding mixture and stir until it is smooth.
Step 11 -Pour the filling onto the cooled crust.
Step 12 -Spread the remaining whipped topping over the filling and sprinkle with the remaining pecans.
Step 13 -Chill the casserole in the refrigerator until serving.
Step 14 -Slice and serve.
