If you're in the mood for the taste of pizza, but want to switch it up ever so slightly, give the Best Homemade Stromboli a try! It has the melty cheese, the savory meats, and the tangy sauce you're craving. But rather than it all lying flat on the crust, those delightful ingredients are rolled up in the flaky, soft, pillow-y nest instead. That sounds quite delicious! Be careful because with one taste, the Best Homemade Stromboli might just replace your traditional pizza on pizza night!

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound pizza dough
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce, plus more, to taste, for serving
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
- 9 salami slices
- 7 honey deli ham slices
- 1 egg, beaten
- dried parsley, to taste
- parmesan cheese, to taste, grated
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Step 2 -Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 3 -Spread the pizza dough on the prepared baking sheet to form a 10x16-inch rectangle.
Step 4 -Spread 1/2 cup of the pizza sauce over 2/3 of the dough lengthwise, leaving a 3-inch border of plain dough along one of the edges.
Step 5 -Evenly sprinkle 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce layer, then top with the salami and the ham.
Step 6 -Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella over the meat layer.
Step 7 -Brush 1/3 of the beaten egg over the plain border of dough.
Step 8 -Fold the two shorter sides of the dough in about 1-inch and brush with 1/2 of the remaining beaten egg.
Step 9 -Starting along the long edge with the toppings, tightly roll the dough up into a sphere.
Step 10 -Brush the entire stromboli with the remaining beaten egg.
Step 11 -Working lengthwise, gently cut 1-inch slats into the top of the stromboli, every 1-2 inches.
Step 12 -Sprinkle the parsley and the parmesan cheese over the stromboli.
Step 13 -Bake the stromboli in the lower third of the oven until it is bubbly and golden, about 8-10 minutes.
Step 14 -Transfer the stromboli from the oven and cool, about 5 minutes.
Step 15 -Slice and serve with the extra pizza sauce.
