White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese

White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese is like traditional macaroni and cheese dressed up in a tuxedo—extra sharp! White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese is full of tender-cooked noodles basking in richness and cheesy goodness; you’ll feel classy with every bite.


1 pound pasta, cavatappi, shells, or elbow
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
2 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 cup white cheddar, shredded


Step 1

Cook the pasta according to package directions while making the sauce.

Step 2

Drain the pasta and set aside until ready to use.

Step 3

In a large pot on medium-high heat on the stove-top, melt the butter.

Step 4

Whisk in the flour and cook for about one minute until the raw flour smell dissipates.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium and add the milk, heavy cream, salt, dry mustard, and pepper.

Step 6

Continue whisking until the mixture begins to bubble.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to low and add the white cheddar. Stir until melted.

Step 8

Add the cooked pasta, stirring until combined.

Step 9

Remove the pasta from the heat and allow it to sit until thickened, about 5 minutes.

Step 10

Season with additional salt and pepper and serve warm!
