Ingredients

2 (1-pound) unsliced loaves of Italian bread
1/4 cup olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning, divided
1/2 pound deli roast beef
12 slices of part-skim mozzarella cheese
16 fresh basil leaves
3 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
1/4 pound salami, thinly sliced
1 (6.5-ounce) jar of marinated artichoke hearts, drained and sliced
1 (10-ounce) package of ready-to-serve salad greens

1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Step 1

Cut the loaves in half horizontally.

Step 2

Hollow out the tops and bottoms of the loaves, leaving 1/2-inch shells. You can use the removed bread for another food project if desired.

Combine the olive oil and garlic. Brush the oil and garlic mixture on the inside of the bread shells.

Step 4

Sprinkle the inside of the bread shells with 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning.

Step 5

Layer the bottom of each loaf with 1/4 of the roast beef, 1/4 of the mozzarella, 1/4 of the basil, 1/4 of the tomatoes, 1/4 of the salami, 1/4 of the artichokes, 1/4 of the salad greens, 1/4 of the chicken, and 1/4 of the onion.

Step 6

Repeat the layers 3 times.

Step 7

Season the sandwich filling with salt, pepper, and the remaining Italian seasoning.

Step 8

Drizzle the sandwich fillings with any of the remaining oil mixture.

Step 9

Top with the bread tops.

Step 10

Wrap tightly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Step 11
