One-Pot Chicken Parmesan Pasta

One-Pot Chicken Parmesan Pasta is a real crowd-pleaser! It’s a delicious mixture of tender chicken, hearty pasta, marinara sauce, and creamy, melty cheese. With everything cooked in just one pot, you can achieve amazing flavor AND have a quick clean-up. What more could anyone ask for? One-Pot Chicken Parmesan Pasta is savory, scrumptious, and sure to make your tastebuds happy!


2 tablespoons olive oil
2-3 chicken breasts, boneless, skinless, and cut into bite-sized pieces
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, plus more for optional sprinkling to taste
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium yellow onion, minced
1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
water, to fill the empty marinara sauce jar
16 ounces short-cut pasta, dried
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1 cup mozzarella cheese
additional Italian seasoning, optional, to taste
parsley, optional, minced, for garnish
basil, optional, minced, for garnish


Step 1

In a Dutch oven or large pot, pour the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Once the oil is heated, add in the chicken, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.

Step 3

Cook until the chicken is nearly cooked through, about 5 minutes. Transfer the chicken from the pot.

Step 4

Add the garlic and onion to the pot and cook until soft and aromatic, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Pour the marinara sauce into the pot.

Step 6

Refill the jar with water and add it to the pot.

Step 7

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer.

Step 8

Add the chicken and pasta to the bowl.

Step 9

Allow the pasta and chicken to cook through, the chicken reaching 165 degrees F and the pasta reaching al dente according to package directions.

Step 10

After the pasta is cooked, stir in the parmesan cheese and 1/4 cup of the mozzarella.

Step 11

Sprinkle the remainder of the mozzarella cheese on top of the dish and cook until the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 12

Sprinkle the remaining Italian seasoning on top.

Step 13

Garnish with the parsley and basil.
