One-Pan Italian Sausage Pasta: the dish with all of the flavor and none of the cleanup! The beautifully seasoned sausage is simmered in tomato sauce for extra brightness and richness, and then topped with sharp parmesan cheese. One-Pan Italian Sausage Pasta is speedy, savory, and perfect for draping over pasta. You’ll be making this for weeknight dinners for years to come!


Ingredients

3/4 pound Italian pork sausage
1 1/4 cups water
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 cup tomato sauce
8 ounces penne pasta
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, optional, grated, for garnish
basil, optional, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet heated over medium-high heat, add the sausage and saute until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. While cooking the sausage, use a wooden spoon to break it apart.

Step 2

Transfer the cooked sausage to paper towels on a plate to drain.

Step 3

In the same skillet, mix together the water, undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, and pasta.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 5

Once boiling, cover with a lid and reduce the heat to low.

Step 6

Cook until the pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.

Step 7

Add the sausage and toss to coat.

Step 8

Garnish with parmesan cheese and basil and serve!
