The strong garden flavor of asparagus pairs incredibly well with creamy, citrusy sauces. It also creates a wonderful contrasting flavor with juicy, savory chicken. Lemon Chicken and Asparagus has all of the above as well as sharp parmesan and tender onions. It's a light and refreshing take on dinner that you can make in 30 minutes or less. Lemon Chicken and Asparagus will become a weekday staple that tastes like a culinary masterpiece.

• 4 medium chicken breasts, boneless and skinless • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning • 1/2 teaspoon crushed chili pepper • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1/2 teaspoon pepper • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 2 tablespoons butter • 1/2 cup onion, minced • 1 pound asparagus, trimmed and cut into thirds • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced • 1 cup heavy cream • 2 tablespoons lemon juice • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, optional • 1/4 cup chicken stock, optional

Step 1

Season the chicken with Italian seasoning, crushed chili pepper, salt, and pepper.

Step 2

Add 1 tablespoon olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Once the oil is heated, add the chicken to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes per side.

Step 4

Transfer the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.

Step 5

Add the butter, onion, and asparagus to the skillet and cook until just tender, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 7

Add the heavy cream, lemon juice, and parmesan cheese, stirring to combine.

Step 8
