A true Valentine's Day staple! Sure, you could buy a pack of premade chocolate-covered strawberries, but that’s not nearly as meaningful. Gourmet Chocolate Covered Strawberries are in fact even better than what you can find in any store, with fresher fruit, creamier, richer chocolate, and the toppings you love most. These Gourmet Chocolate Covered Strawberries can become your signature romantic treat, especially because they take just 20 minutes to make!
Ingredients• 1 (10 ounce) package semi-sweet or milk chocolate • white chocolate, optional, for topping • nuts, optional, for topping • coconut, optional, for topping • Oreo crumbs, optional, for topping • sprinkles, optional, for topping • 2 pounds fresh strawberries
Dry the outside of the strawberries thoroughly. The chocolate will not stay on the strawberries if they are wet.
Pour the chocolate chips into a microwaveable bowl.
Pour your preferred toppings in separate bowls.
Line a baking sheet pan with your parchment or waxed paper.
Microwave the chocolate in 30 seconds intervals, making sure to take it out and stir between intervals until the chocolate is completely melted. If you do not stir the chocolate chips may retain their shape and burn, so you won’t know how melted they are. If you are using white chocolate as an optional topping, repeat the melting process for it.
Hold a strawberry up by the stem or top, and dip it into the melted chocolate.
Lift the strawberry from the chocolate, giving it a slight twist to help the excess chocolate fall back into the bowl.
Dip the strawberry in your preferred toppings, doing a similar twist as you lift the strawberry out.
Place the dipped strawberry on the prepared sheet tray.
Repeat the process with the rest of the strawberries.
For decoration, dip a fork in the melted white chocolate and use it to drizzle it over the dipped strawberries.
Chill the strawberries in the fridge until the chocolate is hardened and creates a shell around the strawberries, about 15 minutes.
