French Toast Skillet takes the rich, custardy flavors of traditional French toast and cranks up the decadence! Thick-cut bread is soaked in a creamy sauce and then coated in a thick, buttery, and sweet caramel sauce. Cooked to a gorgeous golden brown, French Toast Skillet makes a beautiful breakfast that will help your day feel bright.


Ingredients

8 eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 cup half-and-half
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 loaf Texas toast, chopped into 1-inch squares
For the caramel sauce:
1 stick butter, unsalted
1 cup brown sugar, dark or light
3 tablespoons corn syrup

Directions

Step 1

Whisk the eggs, milk, half-and-half, vanilla extract, and salt together.

Step 2

Place the Texas toast in a 10-inch skillet.

Step 3

Pour the egg mixture over the bread pieces.

Step 4

Refrigerate overnight to allow the bread pieces to soak, at least 8 hours.

Step 5

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 6

In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup.

Step 7

Heat the saucepan over medium heat until bubbling.

Step 8

Pour the caramel sauce over the bread in the skillet.

Step 9

Bake until the custard has been completely absorbed and the bread is golden-brown and caramelized, for about 40 minutes.

Step 10

Serve hot!
