The mouth-tingling sauce then is poured over some juicy tomatoes, sweet onions, and crispy cucumbers–now, it's time for the ice! The zesty quadrant chills overnight in the fridge to really soak in every ounce of flavor. After each bite, you'll be glad you used your resources to experience Fire and Ice Tomatoes!
Ingredients• 5 large tomatoes, wedged • 1 medium onion, sliced • 3/4 cup white vinegar • 6 tablespoons sugar • 1/4 teaspoon salt • 1/4 cup water • 3 teaspoons mustard seed • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper • 1 large cucumber, sliced
In a large heatproof, nonreactive bowl, place the tomatoes and onions.
In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, sugar, salt, water, mustard seed, and cayenne.
Bring the vinegar mixture to a boil.
Cook the vinegar mixture for 1 minute, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
Carefully pour the sauce over the tomatoes and onions.
Allow the vegetables to cool completely.
Stir the cucumbers into the vegetables.
Cover and place in the fridge to chill overnight.
