You don’t need to call up the local pizza place to satisfy your craving for crunchy, cheesy goodness. Easy Mozzarella Sticks brings the crispy, endlessly dippable appetizer to your own kitchen. The herb-flavored breading surrounded a melted core of creamy, stretchy cheese for extra fun and flavor! Easy Mozzarella Sticks are traditionally and deliciously paired with marinara sauce, but you can use an aioli or whatever dip you desire!

• 8 string cheeses, frozen • 1/4 cup flour • 1 egg • 1 1/2 tablespoon milk • 1 cup panko crumbs • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning • 1/2 teaspoon pepper • 1 teaspoon garlic salt • canola oil, enough to fill one inch of a pot • marinara sauce, optional for serving

Step 1

Cut the frozen string cheese pieces in half.

Step 2

Place the flour in a bowl.

Step 3

Lightly coat each string cheese piece with the flour.

Step 4

In another bowl mix together the egg and milk.

Step 5

Mix together the panko crumbs, Italian seasoning, pepper, and garlic salt in a shallow pan.

Step 6

Pour the canola oil into a deep skillet to the height of 1 inch up the side.

Step 7

Begin heating the oil on medium heat.

Step 8

Take your flour-dipped string cheese pieces and, one at a time, dip them into the egg/milk mixture and coat them in the seasoned panko crumbs.

Step 9

After the oil has heated for a few minutes, gently place one of the coated string cheese pieces into the oil. If the piece floats within 5-10 seconds the oil is hot enough.

Step 10

Cook each side until fully browned, about 30-60 seconds on each side.

Step 11

Let the mozzarella drain and cool for at least 1 minute on a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 12

Serve with your favorite marinara sauce.
