Dirt Pie
Time: 1 hour 3 minutes
Yield: 15 servings
Dirt Pie is one of those childhood names that undersells the delectability of this dessert. In fact, you could even call it heavenly: creamy, chocolatey, and smooth with a crunch of cookie crumble on top, Dirt Pie is a dark and sweet delight! It’s a mountain of chocolate perfect for serving alongside vanilla ice cream or some fresh berries!
Ingredients
Directions
Make the cake batter according to package instructions.
Bake the cake in a 9x13 baking dish until a knife comes out clean from the center, about 22-28 minutes.
Allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.
Using the end of a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, poke holes in the top of the cake while it is still slightly warm.
Heat the jar of hot fudge in the microwave until it is smooth and can be stirred easily. Heat it in short increments to ensure it isn’t burned.
Pour the entire jar over the cake and allow it to soak in through the holes you created.
Let it rest until the cake is cooled.
Combine 1 of the pudding mixes with 1 3/4 cups of the cold milk.
Immediately pour the pudding mixture over the top of the cake, spreading evenly.
Put the cake into the refrigerator and allow the pudding to set for about 15 minutes.
Combine the second box of pudding mix with the remaining 1 3/4 cups of cold milk in a separate bowl.
Refrigerate until the pudding has been set.
Place 3/4 of the package of Oreos into a gallon-sized plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Remove the set pudding in the bowl from the refrigerator and mix with the container of imitation whipped topping.
Add the crushed Oreos to the whipped topping mixture.
Spread the whipped topping mixture over the top of the cake, creating the “dirt” layer.
Top the cake with the remaining hot fudge, Oreos, and your favorite toppings.
Serve cold.
