Date-Night Cheese Fondue

Who says staying in for Valentine’s Day can’t be romantic? All you need is your partner and the right dish to set the mood. Date-Night Cheese Fondue is exactly the right dish to whisk you and your partner off your feet: the cheese is creamy, indulgent, rich, and smoky, perfect for dipping with buttery French bread or your favorite smoked meats. Date-Night Cheese Fondue is also incredibly easy to make and quick to whip up, so you can get date night started in a hurry!


Ingredients

1 cup dry white wine
1/2 pound Swiss cheese, shredded
1/2 pound Gruyere cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 pound French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
preferred meats, optional, to taste, for dipping

Directions

Step 1

Simmer the wine in the pot that you will be using for the fondue.

Step 2

Add in the Swiss cheese and Gruyere cheese, adding 1/4 pound at a time and stirring after each addition of the cheese until it is completely melted.

Step 3

Stir in the flour.

Step 4

When the cheese is melted and the flour is incorporated, add in the salt and nutmeg.

Step 5

Serve the fondue with the French bread and preferred meats.
