Copycat Cracker Barrel® Fried Apples aims for what seems impossible: recreating the cinnamon sweet, tender, almost jammy apples from Cracker Barrel in your own kitchen. Yet the only thing impossible here is how impossibly good these apples taste! It takes 30 minutes or less to have Copycat Cracker Barrel® Fried Apples with their slow-cooked taste on your table; they’re so good you could serve them with breakfast or as a rustic dessert!

1/4 cup bacon drippings
6 tart apples, sliced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 dash nutmeg

Step 1

In a large skillet, add bacon drippings and heat over medium heat on the stove-top until melted.

Step 2

Add the apples to the skillet and spread them in an even layer over the bottom of the skillet.

Step 3

Drizzle the lemon juice evenly over the apples.

Step 4

Sprinkle the brown sugar and salt on top, and mix to make sure it is evenly incorporated.

Step 5

Place a lid on the skillet and cook over low heat until the apples are tender and juicy, about 15 minutes.

Step 6

Sprinkle the top with the cinnamon and nutmeg.

Step 7

Serve warm and enjoy!
