Chicken Parmesan Burgers
Time: 35 minutes
Yield: 4 servings
It's time to change up the cookout chicken game with a new twist on an Italian comfort classic! Chicken Parmesan Burgers have the crunchy, cheesy, savory flavor of chicken parmesan, saturated in a bright and mellow tomato sauce, on a toasted hamburger bun. The parmesan is mixed right into the meat, so you'll never be without that sharp, nutty flavor. Chicken Parmesan Burgers only take 35 minutes to make, so you can easily cook them alongside ribs! They'll become a barbecue staple before you know it!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup marinara sauce, onion, garlic, and parsley together.
Season with salt and pepper and stir until everything is evenly mixed.
Form the meat mixture into 4 patties.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil.
Place the patties in the skillet until golden brown on one side, about 4-5 minutes.
Flip the patties. Immediately pour the remaining marinara sauce around the patties in the pan.
Bring the marinara to a simmer, reducing the heat as needed to prevent the sauce from bubbling too quickly.
Top each patty with a slice of mozzarella cheese.
Cover the pan and cook until the cheese melts and the chicken is cooked through at 165 degrees F, about 8-10 minutes.
Place the hamburger buns in the oven and toast until lightly crispy and warmed, for about 5 minutes.
Place extra sauce on the toasted buns and add the chicken patty.
Garnish with basil and serve!
