Blackened Salmon

Blackened Salmon is a classic and easy way to enjoy salmon, and the spices in this recipe add a flavorful Cajun twist! This fish is perfectly seasoned with additions like smoky paprika, spicy cayenne powder, and earthy dried thyme. 2 tablespoons ground paprika
1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
4 salmon filets, skin and bones removed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and divided


Step 1

In a small mixing bowl, add together the paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, salt, white pepper, black pepper, thyme, oregano, and basil.

Step 2

Brush the salmon filets on both sides with 1/4 cup of the butter.

Step 3

Sprinkle the filets evenly with the seasoning mixture.

Step 4

Drizzle 1/2 of the remaining butter on one side of each of the salmon filets.

Step 5

In a large, heavy skillet over high heat, cook the salmon, placing the salmon butter side down, until blackened, about 2-5 minutes.

Step 6

Turn the filets and drizzle with the remaining butter.

Step 7

Continue cooking until the salmon has blackened and the fish has easily flaked apart with a fork.

Step 8

Serve hot.
