A proper barbeque needs a great chicken, and we can’t think of a better grilled chicken than Beer Can Chicken! The hoppy flavor of the beer moistens the chicken as it grills to ensure it stays juicy and the dry rub makes sure it’s extremely tasty. Beer Can Chicken is an example of backyard cooking that results in a beautiful meal!

1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons paprika
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 (12 fluid ounce) can beer, with the beer still in the can
1 (3 pound) whole chicken

Step 1

Preheat an outdoor grill to a medium-high heat, around 375 degrees F.

Step 2

Add the brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, dry mustard, salt, and ground black pepper together in a bowl.

Step 3

Put the 1/2 full can of beer in the center of a plate.

Step 4

Rinse the chicken under some cold running water.

Step 5

Discard the giblets and the neck of chicken, then drain and pat it dry.

Step 6

Fit the whole chicken over the top of the can of beer, with the legs on the bottom and kept upright.

Step 7

Sprinkle a teaspoon of your seasoning mixture on the top of the chicken. The beer may foam up when your seasonings fall into the can.

Step 8

Rub the rest of the seasoning mix over the entirety of the chicken.

Step 9

Put the chicken, standing on top of the can, immediately onto the grill.

Step 10

Close the lid and barbeque the chicken until it is no longer pink and the juices run clear, about 1 hour 15 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh should be 165 degrees F.

Step 11

Move the chicken off from the grill and discard the beer can.

Step 12

Cover the chicken with a doubled sheet of aluminum foil, and allow it to rest in a warm area for 10 minutes before slicing.
