In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp.
Combine the onion, ketchup, garlic, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, and cider vinegar in a bowl.
Add the ground beef to the bowl and massage it gently with your hands, ultimately shaping the mixture into 4 hamburger patties.
Cook the patties over medium heat, covered, for 4-7 minutes on each side.
Top the patties with the cheddar cheese and grill until the cheese melts, about 1 minute.
Serve the burgers on the buns with the bacon and the toppings of your choice.
