Apple Cinnamon Bread takes that dynamically delightful pairing and bakes them into a tender loaf that's just begging to be sliced and served with butter or applesauce. Each slice of Apple Cinnamon Bread even comes with a crunchy, nutty topping for added texture and sweetness. This changes breakfast from banal to brilliant in just one bite!


Ingredients

For the bread: • 3 cups all-purpose flour • 1 1/2 cups sugar • 1 teaspoon baking powder • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 2 large eggs, room temperature • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce • 1/3 cup canola oil • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 3 cups tart apples, chopped and peeled For the topping: • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour • 1/2 cup sugar • 2 tablespoons walnuts, chopped • 1/3 cup butter, cold

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Grease two 8x4-inch loaf pans.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the 3 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and ground cinnamon.

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, applesauce, canola oil, and vanilla.

Stir the wet ingredients mixture into the dry ingredients mixture until just moistened.

Fold in the apples.

Step 7

Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pans.

Combine the remaining flour, remaining sugar, and walnuts.

Cut the butter into the walnut mixture until crumbly.

Sprinkle the topping mixture over the batter.

Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaves comes out clean, about 45-55 minutes.

Cool 10 minutes before transferring the loaves from the pans to a wire rack.
